Babaji Cave From Rishikesh: Details of Route and Itinerary

 

Babaji Cave From Rishikesh-The Mahavatar Babaji Cave tour is an opportunity to visit the birthplace of Kriya Yoga. The tour goes along the banks of the Ganges for some of 80 km, in the Himalayan mountains, and some of worth-visiting temples, rivers at a variety of high-altitude locations.

Other sacred places include Sri Badrinath Temple, Mana Village, and the famous  Babaji cave in which Lord Shiva instructed his disciple Lahiri Mahasaya in the 19th century CE.

This trip also give you insight about the connection  between Mahavatar Babaji and Jesus. and along your trip you learn local culture and see few Himalayan famous temples like Adi Badri Temple, Badrinath Temple and Shiva temple. Rama Temple at Devprayag and Dunagri Mata temple in Dwarahat range of Uttarakhand.

After breakfast at your hotel, you will drive to a night halt’s location is called Rudraprayag Sangam, it is the place where two mighty river meet each other Alaknanda and Mandaikini. On the way Devprayag, first you visit a holy place is called Vashishta Cave which is just 25 km from Rishikesh, this cave is a very powerful and popular for meditation retreat, located on the bank of the Ganges. 

Later move towards Devprayag Sangam, is confluence site of two holy river Alaknanda and Bhagirathi ( Ganga river ), this site boast as origin of the name river Ganges, Ganga.  As you arrive there you can learn  association of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers which are carrying an ancient cultural heritage.

This place draws pilgrims and devotees all over India for holy bathing, so you can also think of taking holy deep here, If you want then you must carry change of the clothes.  Later, climb up few lofty stairs to see 5000 years old temple of Lord Rama. And continue driving towards Rudraprayag, on the stop for today’s last temple, is called Dhari Devi Temple which sits in the midst of river and overnight in Hotel at Rudraprayag.

After breakfast at hotel, proceed to Badrinath Temple via Karnprayag, Nandprayag, Vishnuprayag, and Joshimath. Check into your hotel and then visit the main shrine of Sri Badrinarayan Temple at 3,100 meters on the banks of the Alaknanda River. It is said that Mahavatar Babaji has been walking eternally near by this temple, and many devotees has been claimed to see him here.

This historic shrine was restored  by Adi Shankara during the 9th century AD and is devoted to God Badrinarayan/Vishnu. The statue of Sri Badrinarayan is believed to be found by Adi Shankara himself along the Alaknanda Riverbank in Joshimath. Overnight stay at Hotel

Breakfast and explore the Tapt Kund ( hot water spring ) Vyas Cave and Sarswati river, Bhim Pul and hike for  Charan Paduka and Vasudhara waterfall which requires 3 km hiking and Overnight at Badrinath Temple. 

As usual , breakfast at the hotel and check out, driver for Gairsain  via Pipalkoti, Karnprayag, during which you will stop by one of the oldest Himalayan temples in India, the Joshimath Temple (winter shrine of Lord Vishnu), dating back to around 700 AD and Karnprayag is another confluence of two holy river and ancient Shiva Parvati temple, and after keep driving towards  Gairsain,  on the stop for Adi Badri Temple and overnight guest house. 

After a tasty breakfast, we will be heading to Mahavatar Babaji’s cave via Dwarahat and Kukuchina. The cave is about 2 kilometers away from the village of Kukuchina. There would be a small 2-kilometer trek from Kukuchina. After visiting Baba Ji’s cave, we’ll head back on foot towards your overnight location.  the Cave’s site offer YSS Meditation Hut by Baba Ji Cave. This is place, where Lahiri Mahasaya also meditated few days during his search for the cosmic soul. 

Morning breakfast at our hotel, check out, and drive to the most beautiful hill station in India, is called Nainital. On the way we will stop at Dunagri Temple a more than a 2,000-year-old and Dwarahat town is famous as Uttar Dwarka, here  you can see some of famous temple dating back to 10th century, in this town there are 40 small and big temples.  Later, keep heading towards Nainital, on the way, you stop at Kainchi Dham where Neem Karoli Baba lived until his death in 1973, and Steve Jobs, as well as other famous business tycoons, have made their presence felt. Upon arrival in Nainital, check in to our hotel and stay overnight.

After breakfast at Hotel, you move on foot to see  some important local spots of Nainital hill station like Naina Devi Mandir and lake side walks, etc. Later , check out and transfer to railway station, Kathgodam (12039)- Departure – at 15:35/ Arrival – 21:10 ) at New Delhi Station or drive straight to New Delhi Station with the same driver. On the way there is one worth seeing place is Bhimtal lake and temple.
