Mahavatar Babaji is a revered Himalayan master in the Kriya Yoga tradition. Devotees regard him as an immortal yogi who guides sincere seekers from the mountains. His name reached a worldwide audience through Paramahansa Yogananda’s Autobiography of a Yogi, which describes the line of teachers from Babaji to Lahiri Mahasaya, Sri Yukteswar and Yogananda.
Followers believe Babaji is still alive in the Himalayas and rarely appears to anyone. This is a matter of faith. No birth date or official record exists for him, so everything we know rests on the accounts of his disciples. The Dunagiri and Dwarahat region is the area devotees most often connect with him, and many pilgrims come to the cave to meditate there.

Where Is Mahavatar Babaji Cave?
The cave is in the Dunagiri hills near Kukuchina village and Dwarahat, in the Almora district of Uttarakhand. Pilgrims and travellers visit it for its link to the Kriya Yoga tradition and the spiritual heritage of the Himalayas.
There is no motorable road to the cave entrance. You travel by road toward Kukuchina and walk the final approach on a mountain trail. Terrain, weather and access can change, so allow extra time.
